Code of Ethics

Agile by design

My consultancy in all its forms has a deliberate bias to agile principles, techniques and patterns aimed at increasing business agility.

Ability

I will be open and transparent about my skills and experience and I will not claim to have

abilities or knowledge that I do not have.

Confidentiality and information security

All commercial information and personal insights, concerns and opinions will remain fully private and technically secure unless otherwise agreed with the individual client, or the highly unlikely event of legal obligation to disclose.   GDPR applies.

Relationship value

I will ensure that the relationship is valuable and I will not extend it unnecessarily or

create dependencies that extend the relationship.

I will be open with the client if I believe the value in the relationship is declining.

Conflicts of interest

I will ensure there is an agreed with the client, including when it evolves.

I will work with the client to understand their needs rather than impose my own solutions.

I do not promote any one product or service, and have no retainer or commission arrangement with any other company.

Sometimes my advice will include assessing the client’s investment in a tool or product, for which I may provide a professional opinion backed by personal experience where I have it.

I will offer to withdraw from the relationship if a conflict cannot be addressed.

Social responsibility

I will seek opportunities to bring different voices to the work on and I will not

condone, allow, or perpetuate any form of discrimination.

Reputation

I will uphold the reputation of the agile coaching profession.

I will challenge and not condone unethical behaviour in others.

I will attribute other’s ideas appropriately and avoid the appearance that they are mine.

This code of ethics is adapted from the Agile Alliance code.
